Lead Emotional Wellbeing Coach (Remote - Full-Time)

About Wave

Wave is a mission-driven company dedicated to increasing everyone’s access to emotional wellbeing. We have built an ecosystem that delivers evidence-based care pathways, including an engaging digital therapeutic app and coach-led services. We aim to empower people to live the life they want, understanding that well-being is not one-size-fits all, and that all people benefit from the support of the right skills, delivered in the right way at the right time.

We are a female-founded company looking for driven, creative, and passionate team members to join us in our mission. We believe that an inclusive culture and diversity of thought are key components of one’s wellbeing in the workplace. If you’re passionate about making a significant impact on how people access mental health care and improve their emotional wellbeing, we’d love to hear from you!

The Role

We’re building a one-of-a-kind coaching team to help usher in a new paradigm of mental health care through our digital ecosystem.

As an Emotional Wellbeing Coach Lead, you’ll do two things. You’ll provide short-term, evidence-based 1:1 coaching to your own caseload of clients, and you’ll support a team of 7 Emotional Wellbeing Coaches as their first source of guidance, quality feedback and risk support. You’ll report to our Senior Manager, Emotional Wellbeing Coaching

Your week combines up to 40 client sessions with dedicated time for supervision. This is a fully remote, salaried exempt role open to candidates anywhere in the U.S.

We’re a growing team, so our processes evolve. We’re intentional and transparent about changes, and we value leaders who help us improve our workflows, the coach experience and the care our clients receive.

What You’ll do:

Coach your own caseload:

  • Carry an active caseload of new and returning clients, with up to 40 thirty-minute video sessions a week

  • Coach clients on topics such as depression, anxiety, stress management, relationships, communication, life transitions and workplace challenges, using evidence-based coaching and Wave’s model

  • Assign digital lessons, skill-building activities and assessments between sessions, and use client data to personalize your coaching

  • Use AI-supported workflows to work efficiently, while applying your own professional judgment

  • Complete session documentation the same day as each session, and manage your own scheduling and client communication

  • Keep a consistent Monday–Friday schedule within our service hours of 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Central Time

Respond to Risk

  • Recognize and respond to high-risk situations, following Wave’s safety protocols

  • Assess risk in the moment using the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS), take appropriate next steps and escalate care as needed

Support and Develop Your Own Team

  • Be the first point of contact for 7 Emotional Wellbeing Coaches, responding promptly to questions about clients, workflows and coaching approach

  • Help coaches build their own skills and judgment, rather than only giving answers

  • Notice when a coach is struggling or at risk of burnout, check in, and involve your manager when needed

Facilitate Weekly Clinical Rounds

  • Plan and lead a weekly rounds meeting for your team

  • Choose cases that teach the whole group, and guide case conceptualization, discussion and concrete takeaways

  • Keep discussions focused, psychologically safe and within coaching scope, and flag when a client may need a higher level of care

Perform Quality Assurance

  • Review each your team’s sessions or transcripts on a regular schedule using Wave’s QA rubrics

  • Give specific, balanced and actionable feedback in writing and in conversation, and follow up on progress

  • Spot patterns across reviews and bring them into rounds and team learning

  • Calibrate scoring with other Lead Coaches so standards stay consistent and fair

  • Take part in your own self-review, peer review and manager review

Triage Risk Escalations

  • Respond promptly when a Level 1 coach escalates a high-risk situation during your scheduled hours, including between your own sessions

  • Help coaches assess risk using the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS), decide next steps following Wave’s safety protocols, and escalate further when a situation is beyond coaching scope

  • Document escalations, debrief the coach afterward and follow up on how they’re doing

  • Assess and respond to risk with your own clients, following the same protocols

  • Share trends in escalations with leadership

Help Shape Wave’s Coaching

  • Attend coaching team meetings and receive your own supervision

  • Bring your team’s feedback to leadership, and help roll out new workflows and tools

  • Participate in pilots of new coaching offerings, company research and engagement experiments
