We are seeking a Grant Writer to support the preparation, submission, and management of NIH SBIR Phase I grant applications and other funding opportunities. This role involves grant writing, administrative coordination, and strategic input on research design and methodology. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and have experience with NIH grants or federal research funding. Note that this will initially be scoped as a 3-month contract, remote position, beginning at 5-10 hours/week, with hourly commitment ramping to up to 20 hours/week as the grant deadline approaches. There may be room for extension of the contract.
Key Responsibilities
1. Grant Support & Editing (50%)
● Assist in drafting and refining Specific Aims and Research Strategy.
● Conduct literature reviews and compile supporting evidence and references for proposal sections.
● Ensure grant application aligns with NIH guidelines and funding priorities.
● Review and edit proposal for clarity, coherence, and compliance.
2. Administrative & Project Coordination (30%)
● Manage SAM.gov, Grants.gov, and eRA Commons registrations and compliance requirements.
● Track grant deadlines & adhere to submission timelines, ensuring all materials are submitted on time.
● Assist with gathering letters of support, budget justifications, and biosketches.
3. Research Strategy & Ideation Support (20%)
● Contribute to brainstorming sessions for refining research strategies.
Qualifications:
Required:
● Strong grant writing and editing skills.
● Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively.
● Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Preferred:
● Experience with NIH, SBIR, or other federal research grant applications.
● Familiarity with Grants.gov, eRA Commons, and SAM.gov registration processes.
● Experience in digital health, AI, mental health, or social determinants of health research.
